PC-1600 : industrial housing

You all know the standard PC-1500/1600 “leather” pouch.
It’s ok for common use.
But it’s unusable in industrial environment !

A company (don’t know which) has developed the perfect housing.
It can protect a PC-1600 and let the keyboard use.

You have two kinds of closing :
– One who definetly close the housing
– One who let access to I/O ports after removing a small trap door.

This housing is perfect for the PC-1500 too, excepting for the power adapter plug position.

With the advent of small 8th and 9th so I have to redo the family photo.

The blue brother : Sharp PC-1500D

Hello, don’t i promised great news ’till end of the year?
Well, here’s the first news: Blue brother arrived with his printer, in a nice briefcase.

That’s a long time since I was looking for and patience paid off.
Here are some pictures from all angles:

On Japanese sites it has the reference Sharp PC-1500D.
But, to my knowledge, there is nothing to give this name.
Its serial number is very interesting because it puts to the latest PC-1500 manufactured and before the PC-1500A.

Internally it is a version A04 identical to the other PC-1500 A04.

No, the only thing that distinguishes it is blue.
Nay, superb blue !!!

This is the ninth of the family.

In the 80’s in France there was lot of magazines with articles and programs for the pocket computers.
The best website to read them is Abandonware !

“Le Sharpentier” ended in 1987 but was continued as “Nano Ordinateurs”
Readers of “Alles für Sharp Computers” have read some pages from “Le Sharpentier” in their magazine.

CE-165 W Specifications

Yes, you have correctly read the title !
I have informations about the unfindable PC-1500 extension : the CE-165W !

Many of us have long sought this device without finding anything.
But luckily a friend had a few pages stapled, lost in a pile of documents.

What is the CE-165 W ?
This is not an EPROM programmer.
I guess you are disappointed …
But it is actually a programmer for the CE-160 modules.
It can program 16 once.
The verification phase is done by module.

You can download all 4 pages of specifications by Sharp.

I will speak later of the CE-160 and we will detail its operation.
Ah, many sites say that its capacity is 16Kb … but this is false, it is 7.8 Kb.

Please, note that the CE-165W needs a CE-155 module plugged inside the PC-1500.
The pocket computer must have enough memory to store the source program.

Here is the “Sharp like” advert used to present my project.

PTA-4000+16

It’s another under license production by Hiradas Technika.
Do you use the module port to expand memory ? Yes ! 16KB more with CE-161
But they don’t !
Their PTA-4000+16 is nothing but a PC-1500 with a self made 16KB memory board inside.
Crazy, no ?
Stupid ! The module port has being removed and it’s door is glued.

Look at the buzzer… it’s now on the CPU side.

Most of you don’t know that Sharp PC-1500 was produced in Hungary.
Hiradas Technika, HT, had a licence for a clone : the PTA-4000.
It’s a PC-1500 with e cheap pouch ! Only flat plastic.
